JRiver and Audirvana are for sure kissing cousins. So that I can elaborate a little I have been a headphone listener for decades from electrostatics to planar but it’s not the headphones that matter but rather being able to distinguish differences or nuances. It is astounding to me that there are differences between all of the players with Roon and HQPlayer being the outliers. I’ve been a Jriver user for eons but decided to try Audirvana and Roon and… HQPlayer.

I’ve run Roon headless on a few different Mac mini’s over the last 5 or 6 years too so I’ve got a multitude of experience with it.Īnyway this has been my experience between the two. No issues, not even with Roon 1.8 that got some hate on the interwebz. My home setup is an i8 Rock Nuc in an Akasa Turing Case. I went to try the new AV Studio last week but it will not open on my M1 Mac Mini, regular AV does fine just not the Studio version hence I’m building a Roon Rock NUC. I went through troubleshooting like an IBM IT Support Tech telling someone to plug in the damn computer to no avail if you know the joke. That has never been my experience between the two, but I did take the time to read and understand Roon and all of its settings/requirements early on which are crucial to best performance.ĪV has always had a bit of a crackle or static out of both Mac Mini i7 w/64gb of Ram and even a new M1 with 16gb of Ram playing into a myriad of $1K dacs. I have to say I was surprised to read some of the early comments in this thread that AV sounded better to folks than Roon.

I’m now building a Rock NUC to run Roon at my office for a few users. Trash ’ve been using Roon since pretty close to its launch in a number of configurations (whole home and single station at office), for the past two years it’s been exclusively whole home and Audirvana at my office. click Show Library Folder and then you'll have access to the rest forever. When you have clicked your Home Folder, and cannot see the Library Folder in there, just do a ''cmd J'' to show the folder settings preferences and see at the bottom. If you have Playlists that are important export them first to desktop and save them in a folder.Īpple hide the Home Folder in User Library at some time depending on OS System. You can try also to trash your preferences for A+. Have you unplug it, restart mac restart A+, plug the dac. Have you checked if it it sees in Audio Midi Setup.

Only suggestion was to erase my imac and install El Capitan. My old MacBook running El Capitan recognizes it. My iMac running High Sierra no longer recognizes my Emotiva DC-1 as a sound output device. nothing to do with music but needed by me

Parallels Desktop is still working with windows 10 installed on Mac Mini.

The Remote of A+ still works with my iPhone like before and my IOS application 'Remote Mouse' on the Mac and iPhone still control my MacMini on the TV with the iPhone if i want.

and so on, to just have only one folder at a time open in the finder while browsing my music hard disc. Making the folder you clicked disappear while holding the ALT key to just keep the next one you have selected. The best thing for me with High Sierra, is now i can use the keyboard like it was before Sierra. I putted back my A+ music database folder where it is supposed to be and my preferences for A+ software, and all was back like before with playlists included Onyx doesn't work either at this stage to repair the permissions after. So i enjoy A+ 3.0.7 like it is now, HQPlayer 3 still works and JRiver 22 also. ktext again to make it work because SuperDuper couldn't see my hard disk formatted for High Sierra new scheme thing.

in fact, i had to put back my preferemces of Sierra to make it works again Direct Mode is out also as it is dead since Sierra. I wanted to see if it was better for A+ with the new Finder coding and see if some bugs would disapear for me like the stoping of A+ playing for no reason for 1 or 2 seconds once a week.įor me, A+ have still troubles like others before High Sierra with the System Optimizer installing at first. I installed the Dev Beta 2 of High Sierra today on a new partition.
